Rosario Parker Gordon
I am an artist, educator, and writer, currently based in Seattle, WA (stolen Coast Salish land, specifically the ancestral land of the Duwamish, Suquamish, Stillaguamish, and Muckleshoot People). My work explores the culturally specific contexts of mancrafts in the American Midwest, institutional critiques, and micro-community culture. I have exhibited work locally and nationally, at galleries such as The Blue House and The Neon Heater, and have contributed to zines and publications, such as HAIR + NAILS ZINE, Post-Mortem Zine, and mnartists, a critical arts writing platform from the Walker Art Center, as well as self-published numerous zines, many of which can be found on this website.
As an educator I have worked in institutional settings, as well as in non-traditional community-centered educational experiences. I tend to seek out educational scenarios that emphasize student-centered learning and prioritize horizontal relationships.
When not at my studio, I can usually be found walking my dog or riding my bike.
